The State Governor – Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode released executive order on safeguarding and child protection policy

The Lagos State government considers child abuse unacceptable in all circumstances and has risen to the moral duty and obligation of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Child protection policy centers, on practices which ensure that potential abuse and neglect, along with general concerns about child well-being, are easily identified and appropriately responded to.

The exclusive aim of the safeguarding and child protection programme is to provide clear direction for reporting disclosures of abuse, show commitment to the development of good practice, and establish sound procedures to keep children safe, as well as ensure that referrals are handled sensitively, professionally and in ways that support the needs of the child’s well-being.

It is thus imperative for all Lagos State child cantered institutions which includes schools, health facilities, orphanages and recreational centers to adopt the new child protection policy to ensure that the rights of children are safeguarded.
